Aluminum is a great material when it comes to waste. Because it can be infinitely recycled, it has the highest avoided carbon emissions of the materials often used for primary packaging. The included disposal instructions on both the aluminum tube and paper box help to ensure that these materials actually do get recycled. That said, all material choices come with a tradeoff. For aluminum, when it is sourced from non-recycled or virgin material, it has a high sourcing and manufacturing impact. This is because it is made of a nonrenewable resource. Using a higher amount of recycled content can help mitigate this impact and increase the sourcing and manufacturing score.

The main ingredients are all biodegradable, which means they will break down when released back into the environment after use. The primary ingredient is also sourced in the United States, which means it has a lower distance traveled, and therefore has lower carbon emissions. The primary ingredient is also sourced sustainably, from a renewable resource.

While these ingredients have many benefits, they also have to be processed from their raw form to be included in this cleanser. That processing drives up carbon emissions, and often impacts other resources like water usage.
